Dark Souls 2 Gameplay…Praise the Sun

Finally. After watching the CG teaser trailer announcement for Dark Souls during the Spike TV Video Game Awards, we finally have a gameplay trailer (and an interview with Yui Tanimura, Game Director from From Software), courtesy of IGN. Watch the demo and interview below:

A few things that we learn from the 12 minute demo:

The graphics are crazy good (with wind effects and much, much better lighting), combat has remained mostly unchanged (dual-wielding has been improved though), estus flasks have apparently been replaced with some sort of healing stones, environments can now be damaged (pillars, walls), and boars are still a pain in the ass.

Methinks arrows in your back are the least of your worries in Dark Souls 2

The game looks to be another amazing iteration in the Souls series, and I for one cannot wait to sink in a hundred or so hours again into this innovative series. We’ll hear (and report on) more news as it comes. In the meantime, I would suggest that you stop reading these words, and get back to watching the video. Praise the Sun!
