Kinect Not Required For Xbox One

by

Microsoft revealed earlier today that the Xbox One will no longer need Kinect to function. This news came on an Ask Microsoft Anything, which occurred on IGN. Xbox Corporate Vice president, Marc Whitten announced that Xbox One owners will be able to use all of the Xbox One’s main functions without the Kinect sensor being connected. Some features such as voice commands, player identification and more will be disabled because of this.

This is another significant change to the Xbox One. After E3, Microsoft changed many of their policies, the Xbox One no longer required to have an online connection, and used games working as they did before with the Xbox 360.

Now that Kinect is no longer mandatory for the Xbox One, does this mean that there will be a cheaper version of the Xbox One with no Kinect? If rumours are anything to go by, it seems likely. For the moment, there’s no clarification whether this will happen or not.
