Pikachu Named Japan’s 2014 World Cup Mascot

It has been announced that Pokemon’s  electric mascot, Pikachu, will act as Japan’s mascot in the 2014 World Cup.

Pikachu, along with ten other Pokemon, have been confirmed to act as Japan’s world cup mascots this year after a deal was struck between Nintendo and Adidas, the official apparel sponsor of the Japanese national football team earlier this week.



The other Pokemon that will accompany Pikachu as the team’s mascots include longtime adversary Meowth, the original starters Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, the most recent starters Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, along with three more Pokemon introduced in the series’ latest installment, X and Y , Pancham, Helioptile, and Litleo.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 12th to June 14th in Brazil.
