Student Replicating Manhattan In Minecraft

by

Christopher Mitchell, a Computer Science PhD student, is actively replicating Manhattan in Minecraft  to scale. So far, he has built Yankee Stadium (which resides in the Bronx), the Time Warner Center, the Chrysler Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, the New York Public Library, a portion of Times Square, Carnegie Hall, the Plaza Hotel, the New York Life Insurance Building, and the Flat Iron Building.

This project is nearly a year in the making; he started on March 25, 2013. Thus far, he’s completed 65% of the city. Utilizing Google 3D Warehouse for the models of every building on every street of the thriving city, he is able to replicate the buildings properly in the game.
