Wii U Version of Minecraft is Extremely Unlikely

Minecraft truly is the indie success story in the games industry. Originally a smash hit on PC, the retro styled open world crafting and survival sim has since been ported to Xbox 360 and, as of a short while ago, PlayStation 3, having amassed sales exceeding 33 million units across all three platforms.

However, unfortunately for Nintendo fans, Mojang currently has no plans to release Minecraft on Wii U, despite the obvious areas in which the game could be enhanced with the GamePad’s second screen. This was confirmed when Minecraft creator Markus Persson took to Twitter, stating:

Presumably, Persson is talking about the development currently underway at Mojang on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Minecraft, all of which are due to release sometime in 2014.
