GTA V Budget Rivals Blockbuster Game And Movie Budgets

According to WCCFTech, the budget for Grand Theft Auto V was big enough that other triple A games in the industry don’t even come close to the immense budget used for GTA V. The closest game in budget was Grand Theft Auto IV and even that is shy $160 million.

As you can see, Rockstar really outdid themselves with this game. With all the money and time put into it, it’d be a shame if GTA V didn’t win game of the year. The budget for GTA V clearly overshadows the budgets of other big name games, but let’s take a look at how it stands alongside blockbuster movies.

The budget for Grand Theft Auto V out beats 10 out of 11 blockbuster movies coming in second to Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End which has $40 million on GTA V. It just goes to show that funding for games can be a serious business. I would have thought that the budget for Avatar or The Avengers would have been far higher, but seeing that a video game surpassed so many movie budgets makes me both proud to call myself a gamer and excited to see what enjoyment this extensive budget will be bringing me on September 17th.
