No PlayStation Plus Required for Recording and Sharing

PlayStation Plus will not be required in order to access the PlayStation 4’s recording, streaming and sharing functions. This was confirmed on Twitter by Sony’s President of SCE’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida. Asked whether PlayStation Plus was needed to access these features, Yoshida simply replied “No”. Earlier in the week, it was announced that Xbox Live Gold will be required to use the Xbox One’s Digital Video Recorder (DVR) features.

However, with Microsoft changing many of their policies, they could also change their decision on their DVR features in another attempt to compete with Sony. Having just changed their minds about the Chat Headset, which will now come with every Xbox One, everyone’s now speculating on what Microsoft will change next.
