Let’s All Calm the F*@# Down

Letâ€s be honest. There have been more than a few occasions where Iâ€ve wanted to fling my controller at the wall, or when Iâ€ve pounded the armrest when playing through a frustrating part of a game. Sometimes you just need to vent, and itâ€s happened to me more times than I care to admit. But almost immediately I calm down and realize, “hey, it’s just a game”. I have much more important things going on in my life that I need to worry about, than raise a few heartbeats a minute on a frustrating game.

And bad games in general? I havenâ€t really gotten angry, more than Iâ€ve become disappointed and bored of the gameplay or story. I play games to relax, enjoy myself, and maybe even have a rowdy good time when playing online – whether it be a competitive round of multiplayer, or a smashing good time in co-op.

On the other hand, there are some gamers who just don’t know how to properly deal with issues when they play games. A bad checkpoint, getting tea-bagged, falling into a boss battle ill-equipped, etc. is usually enough to get these self-control-challenged freaks riled up into a violent frenzy. And the frustration manifests itself in a crapload of ways, whether it be cursing someone out over Xbox Live, physically throwing or breaking others’ or their own property – trust me. It can get really nasty.

And it seems to me that my views fall pretty much in line with our Video Content Directorâ€s, Justin “SlasherJPC” Celani. Watch him vent about video gamers who vent, and more importantly, video game YouTubers who vent about games.

Check out the video below and let us know if you see a reflection of yourself. If you do, then I’d advise you to step away from yourself, and just realize the futility and complete waste of time, property, and effort on your part. And if that wasn’t enough to convince you to just chill out when playing games, then I would suggest taking up reading, pottery, or even embarking on a nice excursion to Tibet to live with some monks to really meditate on your issues.
