GamerHorizon Takes a Trip Down the PSOne Memory Lane

by

The original PlayStation. I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t have any fond memories of that console. With all the blockbuster releases-by-the-minute climate that we have these days, with an overabundance of popular systems, developers, and games, sometimes it’s hard to imagine what it was to exist in a time when there was one veritable console king, the original PlayStation.

Resident Evil 2 doesn’t look like much today, but just remember that I went out and bought a PlayStation just for this game.

And the games…dear God, the games. Gran Turismo, Resident Evil 1,2, and 3, Parasite Eve, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit, Colony Wars, Tekken 3, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII…I could go on and on. There were so many hits on that beautiful system; so may good memories of just hunkering down one evening or night, and enjoying the games for what they were and how they played, with no achievements to urge the progression, Hollywood-type blockbuster cinematics to blister your eyes and ears, or patches or DLC to give developers an excuse to laze around with development, or cut story, gameplay, and length to bleed customers willfully. Simpler times, to be sure, but oh so meaningful.

Well, GamerHorizon.com took that trip down memory lane to reminisce about their top 5 PlayStation One games. The staff gives their opinions about their top 5’s, and maybe you should head over there and check out just how far back they can take you down nostalgia lane.
